Following Uncle Matt to the snow… this is just a few minutes outside of Julian.
Noah is bundled up and ready to play.
Jax wanders off into the snow. He’s at his bravest around his big cousins.
Plenty of snow for all sorts of activities.
The part of sledding that ends up being forgotten: trudging up the hill.
Jax wasn’t ready to try a sled, but he was perfectly willing to booty slide.
This was mostly an experiment to see if the boys would be willing to stay out in the snow for any length of time.
Teri gets an extra workout.
Sadie shows an alternate use of a boogie board.
Ty goes for a big ball of snow.
Tyler is now armed.
Eli goes knee boarding.
With snow pants, no sled is needed.
Jax was the bravest he has ever been.
Taking a break from the sleds, to make piles of snow.
Ty and a pile of snow.
Our first run had the potential for quality wipe outs if you didn’t quite make the chute.
Jaxon works his way back up to the top.
Lunch break.
Seth was put to work making a banked turn for the new run.
Norm and AJ supervise the efforts.
Tyler was thrilled to take some of his gear off and get some snacks.
AJ was plenty warm, a little confused, but mostly ambivalent.
Not the most comfortable spot.

Dana took advantage of the lunch calm to get some sledding in for herself.
Simple joys.
Sadie is stuck eating snow.
Eli decides to raise the stakes a little bit.
Norm and AJ continue their wandering.
Uncle Matt likes to hold his follow through.
Seth worships at the foot of the Great Snow Ball.
Norm’s first shot at the chute.
Not exactly right down the middle.
He’s having fun. Trust us.
Fast enough that he almost went over the edge into uncharted territory.
Dana gets a turn holding the infant.
From up close, you’d think she knew what she was doing.
Knee boarding adds an extra chance for falling.
A quick lesson in Newton’s laws.
We thought it was funny, but Noah had a different opinion.
Jax and Norm prepare for their first run together.
Jax was a little apprehensive, but we were excited that he was willing to try.
We may have done this over and over and over again.
5 year old bliss.
The Matt, Seth and Eli constructed banked turn worked perfectly.
Another sideways approach
Not exactly how we drew it up, but fun nonetheless.
It can be hard to tell with all those clothes, but Jax was loving it.
We didn’t stick the landing.
Big piles of snow, sunny and warm… a perfect snow day.
And over and over again.
We may have perfected our approach.
Hitting the bank with speed is where the fun starts.
We got a standing observation!
Teri started further up the hill hoping for more speed.
Flying powder, intense expression, looks like a new facebook profile photo.
After witnessing her mom’s assault on the bank, Jax was willing to try a run with her.
More fun than school.
Tyler was content to guard the popcorn bag.
The big cousins now get their turn to show the littles how it’s done.
Seth gets a small hit of happiness.
Uncle Matt is now giving the guided tours.
Seth tries again.
Out of control, but perfectly calm.
Uncle Matt and Mariah take a shot at the bank.
Uncle Matt steers with his monkey arms.
After watching Jaxon survive several runs, Tyler was willing to go for it.
Tyler looks tiny.
There’s some cross traffic in the background.
Little Ty got a tad smooshed by the end.
We were pretty excited that both our big boys tried sledding.
Ty was happy enough to march back up and try again.
Eli, meanwhile, was having technical difficulties.
Seth leaps the gap.
Jax and Seth watch the other cousins/siblings go.
Seth and Jaxon dig some snow holes.
Tyler goes for his second run.
Either these pictures are out of order, or Ty wanted to go again!
Norm managed to keep Ty sitting up this time.
An edited version of Norm giving birth to a two year old.
Any sledding adventure you can walk away from is a good sledding adventure.
Eli is going for it again.
Will he make it around the turn this time?
Woot! It looks like Eli has overcome the curse of his mom watching.
We decided the end of the day would be a good time to try to get a picture of the boys in the snow.
Clearly, this was a good decision.
If there is any doubt when your kids have hit the wall, they’ll clear it up for you pretty quick.
Matt and Sadie end the day with some high angle turning.
