1/26/2010: 3am Activities

AJ has been sick and so we stopped the sleep training as we didn’t want him crying and getting snotty and coughing. That means we are back to early mornings again. AJ wakes up around 3am and Teri is with him until he is ready to g back to sleep somewhere between 5-6am. There is a space heater in AJ’s room so after he eats we try to stay in the room for a bit and play with whatever is available. (This morning Teri found some toys in a bin in the closet and AJ happily played in there after a long bout of crying (you can see the glistening tears in his eyes)). After that it is out to the family room where we watch Baby Einsteins.
Family life is full of major and minor crises -- the ups and downs of health, success and failure in career, marriage, and divorce -- and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It's difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul.
