June gloom is coming in early and compared to how beautiful it has been, this gloomy cold weather is a bit of a downer, but we still manage to have fun on the beach.

Memorial Day morning started in La Jolla. We made ourselves a nice big breakfast and then headed down to the beach. Josh Konold’s whole family spends Memorial Day at the beach starting early with breakfast burritos. Since we were in La Jolla we headed to where they set up north of the pier to hang out for the morning, tire the boys out and play before we go to Corona for our own family gathering.

Teri’s parents left last night for a 10 day trip in Singapore and while they are gone our family is staying at their house in La Jolla for part of the week. Today is our full day here.

Happy Birthday to Grandma, Happy Mother’s Day to all Mothers. We celebrated Sunday afternoon at the beach in La Jolla and it was a beautiful afternoon.
Family life is full of major and minor crises -- the ups and downs of health, success and failure in career, marriage, and divorce -- and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It's difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul.
